Oregon State University is a public land-grant research university in Corvallis, Oregon. The university offers more than 200 undergraduate-degree programs along with a variety of graduate and doctoral degrees. On-campus enrollment averages near 32,000, making it the state's largest university. On October 27, 1868, through the efforts of college faculty member and legislative clerk William Moreland and state senator C.B. Bellinger, the state legislature designated Corvallis College as Oregon's land-grant institution under the provisions of the Morrill Act of 1862.
