Salary Range: $21.00 to $26.00 Hourly

Shift Hours: 9:00pm to 5:00am

Essential Functions:

  • Perform office work, including using telephone and computers.
  • Answer telephone and radio.
  • Communicate professionally with truck drivers.
  • Prepares and handles documents, i.e., daily and monthly reports.
  • Record railcar numbers.
  • Operate scales to record weights of all vehicles.
  • Communicate professionally with other departments by phone.
  • Handle mail.
  • File documents.
  • Enter data into computer.
  • Maintain computerized and manual logs of cars in yard.
  • Compare bills with list of cars.
  • Keep track of supplies needed for all scale houses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Interaction with Others/Communication Skills: Continually. Must be able to follow verbal instructions and give directions.
  • Deadlines/Shift Work/Overtime/Flexibility: Requires flexibility to change work schedule dependant upon work demands.
  • Highly Repetitive Work: Frequently. Work is basically the same with some variations. Requires ability to change work plans to meet change of work demands/deadlines.
  • Attention to Detail: Continually. Accurate attention to details required to complete paperwork and accurately record scale and railcar numbers.
  • Works Alone/Directs Others: Continually. Works alone and with other departments. Gives direction to truck drivers and equipment operators.

ENVIRONMENTAL

  • Works indoors 100% of time in climate-controlled office setting.
  • Safety Equipment Required: Continually. Must wear safety boots, and safety glasses. Gloves and hardhat required in designated areas.
  • Exposures: Primarily office work. May be exposed to dirt, noise and extreme weather conditions while transversing mill yard.
  • Operation of Equipment/Tools/Vehicles: Office equipment, weigh scales, two-way radio, golf cart.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sitting: Frequently while sitting on padded desk chair to enter data into computer.
  • Standing/Walking: Occasionally. Standing at scales. Walk short distances in office and across gravel and concrete yard.
  • Crouching (bend at knees): Rarely. To place copy paper in storage unit.
  • Stooping: Occasionally. While filing.
  • Reaching: Occasionally. Reach above shoulder height to operate scales. Frontal reaching to enter data into computer. Rare reaching below waist to access files.
  • Twisting/Turning: Occasionally. Inspecting position of trucks. Twist back while sitting in desk chair to move to different workstations.
  • Climbing: Climb one flight of stairs four times per day. Ladders, not required.
