Schedule: 7:45 am - 6:15 pm, Three 10-hour shifts, Friday - Saturday

Join Salem Health’s Security team as a Protection Officer and make a meaningful impact by helping create a safe, welcoming, and weapon-free environment for everyone on campus. In this vital role, you’ll operate advanced detection systems, enforce safety protocols, and serve as a trusted presence for patients, visitors, and staff. Your vigilance, clear communication, and commitment to exceptional service will help ensure a secure and supportive atmosphere throughout the hospital.

What you’ll do

  • Enforce the hospital’s weapon-free policy using advanced detection systems.
  • Monitor and report safety or security concerns to supervisors and field officers.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary to support safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate logs and generate clear, timely incident and activity reports.
  • Use radios, phones, and other communication tools to relay critical information.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Respond to questions and concerns with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Stay alert and observant to ensure a safe and secure environment for all.

Required qualifications

  • Successful candidate will have relevant experience in customer service, security, law enforcement, or military police work.

Additional information

  • Health care security and or customer service experience is preferred.
  • DPSST unarmed certification obtained within one month of hire.
  • NIMS HICS 100, 200, and 700 online certificates obtained within one year of hire.
