Our next Principal Engineer will play a key role in delivering our Capital Improvement Program. Please review the Principal Engineer classification for additional details about this job.
- Supervise a team of professionals that include Senior Project Engineers, Project Managers, and/or Project Coordinators.
- Deliver Capital Improvement Projects with a primary focus on the Transportation System, but may also work on Parks, Stormwater, Sanitary Sewer, Water, and Facility CIP projects.
- Develop and update transportation design standards.
- Perform traffic studies, complete plan review for private development permitting, or supervise staff that will perform these duties.
- Strategically pursue grant funding for transportation and trails projects. Ensure grant requirements are met as part of project delivery through the CIP.
- Serve as a partner to other agencies such as ODOT/Washington County.
- Collaborate with the Community Development team on transportation planning projects.
- Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities, to perform the essential functions of the position, may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or related engineering field; and
- A minimum of five (5) years' increasingly responsible experience in professional engineering design, plan review, and project administration including at least one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience; or
- Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, or experience relevant to the position.

Union Representation: This position is not represented by a union.
Schedule: 40 hours per week. Work schedule includes a combination of office and off-site meetings (some evenings) There is an opportunity for remote work up to 1 day per week.
