The Tigard Public library is seeking an organized and innovative Senior Library Assistant to support our forward thinking and highly dedicated Circulation team. An ideal candidate for this position has a passion for working with the public, is a skilled communicator, thoughtful, attentive to detail, and works with a spirit of inclusive collaboration.
- Coach staff though patron interactions and account issues as needed.
- Interpret and answer questions regarding library circulation policies and procedures.
- Assess daily workloads and direct workflow accordingly. Check on the completion and accuracy of work assigned.
- Participate in or lead department projects as needed.
- Perform opening and closing duties, including securing and un-securing the building, checking for staff and volunteer absences, and preparing work for staff and volunteers.
- Perform clerical duties including running reports, recording statistics, and balancing cash drawer.
- Serve as part of the Library’s Person In Charge (PIC) Team.
- This role will not perform any Reader Services or Technical Services duties.
- Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to a high school diploma AND
- Two (2) years of experience in library services
- Some lead experience (preferred)
